The LEGO Store Calendar has been released for March and they will be giving away a free Martian Manhunter Minifigure with every order of $75 or more. The fine print says it will be from March 1st - March 31st or it could be until they run out.   If they couple this with the Free Shipping promo that they have been running, count me in.  It looks legit, Ill take 5 of 'em.

Cool Minifigure of the Week: Iron Patriot

My favorite minifigure this week is the ultra-rare Iron Patriot.  Iron Patriot was made famous in the latest Iron-Man movie, Iron-Man 3.  Why LEGO decided to only have him available with a Pre-order from Walmart of the LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes Video Game, I will never know.  If you want to get your hand on one, your best bet is eBay, they run around $30 - $40 USD.  WARNING:  Be aware, there are fake/counterfeits out there.  Anyways, he's my jam.

Have you ever wanted to build Iron Man's Laboratory LEGO has made a handy instruction sheet on how to build one.  With their design there is a place for every type of armor, lots of helpful mechs and a staging area where Tony Stark suits up.  Its a cool design, cool enough that I wish they would have made it an actual boxed LEGO set.  You can download the full instruction .PDF right here.  Have fun.

An Iron Patriot Minifigure is being released?

Ok, what do you want first, the good news or the bad news?  

Welp, I'll start with the good news.  LEGO is releasing an Iron Patriot Minifigure!  And by the way, it looks great.

Now the bad news.  As of right now the only way to get it is by Pre-ordering The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game at Walmart. Yes, Walmart of all places, not Amazon, not Gamestop, not Best Buy.  Walmart.  I know some people do, but the vast majority of people who pre-order games do it elsewhere.  And the game doesn't come out until October when the Iron-Man 3 movie is out right now, so the timing seems really off.  None of it makes sense.

Blast From The Past: Iron Man Mark I (2008)

It was about five years ago when my friend Myron and I decided to make our first custom minifigure.  The first Iron Man movie had just come out and we thought it would be cool if we made an Iron Man Mark I LEGO Minifigure.  This was our final version.  Not too bad looking for our first custom, we actually sold about 50 of them back in the day.  It was a great success for our brand new custom minifigure business.

Iron Man Helmet Sculptures

I saw these amazing Iron Man 3 Helmets on Flickr.  He made great use of those metallic gold pieces, and they even open up.  They were created by Mr. Attacki and you can check out his other creations here. I wish I could get my hands on one.

Cool Minifigure of the Week - War Machine

I would have to say this is one of my favorite minifigs of all time.  Not only do I really like the character but I love the way he looks in LEGO form.  He includes a removable gun that hangs over his shoulder and nice flip-up helmet.  He is only available in LEGO Set 76006 - Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle. The set also includes Aldrich Killian (Glow In The Dark) and Iron Man with Mark 42 Armor.  Its currently available on Amazon for $19.97 with Free Shipping when you spend more than $25.  I really recommend you pick this one up just for this minifig alone.
